Ari Almqvist is Group Director Growth & Innovation at Moog Inc., where he manages teams of professionals to look for new opportunities/areas to grow, innovate business models and technologies as well as develop next strategy for EM business. Manage operational EM business in Italy and India with teams. Be part of driving strategy, development and execution of Industrial business as part of Executive Committee.
He studied Machine Building and Automation at Helsinki University of Technology and holds an MBA from the same university.

Corporate and Business Unit (BU) innovation

I am R&D Director in Danfoss. I have 20 year of experience in R&D – mainly in development of mechanical components (mechanical controllers) and smart components for HVAC systems. I have experience in leading projects for new product development, technology projects and IT platform projects. In 2007 I facilitated start of process of modernization of product portfolio by adding smart features in very traditional components like valves and actuators for HVAC. In that time, I also made some very fruitful contacts and partnerships with academic institutes that helped in faster innovation on the products. In 2012 I received award from Government of Republic Slovenia for invention on field of intelligent actuators for HVAC. In 2013 I took responsibilities as R&D directors – responsible for new product development process and implementations.

Artificial Intelligence and the future of business

Kalman Tiboldi is the Chief Business Innovation Officer of TVH, worldwide market leader in replacement parts for material handling and in-plant industrial vehicles and has over 35 year experience in using information technology for business process innovation.
        Kalman merged IT and Business in a new department called Business Innovation through IT (BI²T) and managed to promote the collaboration between IT and Business as driving force behind innovation.  With his team he has successfully implemented a flawless IT infrastructure with flexible applications, based on service-oriented architecture, turning TVH into a real-time, extended enterprise.
Providing the leadership and direction towards the development and implementation of information systems, Kalman is taking advantage from Cloud-based Services, Big Data and Internet of Things and strongly support Open Source solutions.
Kalman holds a Civil engineer polytechnician degree from Military Technical Academy of Bucharest and a Master of Mathematics and Computer Science degree from University of Bucharest.
He was named IT Manager of the Year’ – Large Organizations in 2004 and 2011 by Leading European Trade Publication, Data News.

Trends, challenges and opportunities for early value chain players

Seasoned finance executive operating as divisional CFO in a global manufacturing group with 20 years international experience in various finance roles at corporate, segmental and plant level, including auditing, accounting, industrial controlling, M&A/divestitures, R&D taxation and funding, innovation management, strategy, intellectual property, transfer pricing, IT, purchasing, and with senior board-level exposure (chairman of 2 joint-venture research laboratories and 1 investment company focusing on early stage and growth financing to innovative companies across the metal value chain)

How to introduce new technologies (like AI) in large companies?

I’ve worked in the steel industry for 20 years in several positions in R&D, customer technical support, product management, energy management and I did improvement projects like product rationalization. I’m currently responsible for R&D collaborations with universities, research organizations and high tech companies, as well as funding of these. I’m involved in introducing artificial intelligence for quality control. I’m trying to match company needs to arising new technologies, especially in the digital area. My background is in Materials Science and Engineering and I did a PhD on corrosion of stainless steels. I’ve also worked in the National Aerospace Lab in the Netherlands before I started working in the steel industry.

Dealing with the disruption of your core business: the Agfa case

Tim Desmet is a doctor in polymer chemistry from the University of Ghent. During his PhD he focused on 3D printing of biodegradable implants. Currently he is responsible for the innovation management and new business development within the business group Agfa Materials.
